...well then, how do you explain teeth? The structure of the tooth with all its nooks and crannies makes it a playground for disease causing bacteria. In human history there is no counting the number of people felled by tooth related maladies. Rotten teeth, broken teeth, impacted, absessed, wisdom teeth for christ's sake! An early homo sapien lucky/plucky enough to have survived into what passed for old age was undoubtably endowed with a superior set of ivories. Given the vital role teeth play in our survival, especially for the vast stretch of time before floss and fluoride, why would a designer with even a modicum of intelligence have settled on such an inherently flawed design? Of course no one did choose the design of teeth or any other natural thing you care to name. The truth is humans have managed to survive and thrive despite all the parts, systems and appendages which could benefit from a bit of intelligent design. Thanks to a complex problem solving brain we small, hairless little bipeds with no visible means of defense and rather puny crooked teeth have risen above the fray and are poised to become the designers of the future. Do we have the right stuff to be intelligent designers?
